What Size Sheets Do I Need?
Standard pocket sheets fit mattresses up to 11" deep. If your mattress is 12–14" thick, you need deep pocket sheets. For mattresses 15" or thicker (or any mattress with a topper), go with extra deep pocket sheets. Select your mattress below to get your exact sheet size and pocket depth.
Your Queen mattress (10" thick) has a total depth of 10". You need sheets with a minimum pocket depth of 13".

Standard vs Deep vs Extra Deep Pocket Sheets
Standard Pocket (up to 14")
Standard pocket sheets work for mattresses 8–11" thick. Most traditional innerspring mattresses and thinner memory foam beds fall in this range. These are the most widely available and typically the least expensive option. If your mattress came compressed in a box and is 10" or under, standard pocket sheets will fit.
Deep Pocket (15–17")
Deep pocket sheets are designed for mattresses 12–14" thick. Most modern hybrid mattresses, pillow-top mattresses, and thicker memory foam beds need deep pocket sheets. If your standard sheets keep popping off the corners, your mattress likely needs a deeper pocket than what you have.
Extra Deep Pocket (18–22")
Extra deep pocket sheets are for mattresses 15" and thicker, or any mattress with a topper. Luxury mattresses, thick pillow-tops, and adjustable air beds often require extra deep pockets. If you use a 2–4" memory foam topper on a 12"+ mattress, this category is your best bet.

Tips for Getting the Right Fit
Measure your mattress, not the label
Mattress thickness can change over time. Memory foam compresses with use, and pillow-tops can flatten. Measure from the bottom of the mattress to the highest point of the sleeping surface for the most accurate pocket depth.
Account for your topper separately
A 2–4" mattress topper can push you into the next pocket depth category. A 10" mattress with a 3" topper needs 16" of pocket depth, which puts you in deep pocket territory. Always add topper thickness to your mattress measurement.
Slightly deeper is better than too shallow
Sheets that are a bit too deep will still stay on, but sheets that are too shallow will pop off the corners constantly. When you are between sizes, go with the deeper pocket option. The extra fabric tucks under the mattress and stays put.
Check the actual pocket depth, not just the label
“Deep pocket” is not a standardized measurement. One brand's deep pocket might be 15" while another's is 17". Always check the listed pocket depth in inches rather than relying on marketing terms alone.
Elastic matters as much as depth
Sheets with elastic all the way around the fitted sheet (not just at the corners) grip better on thick mattresses. Look for “fully elasticized” fitted sheets if your mattress is 12" or thicker.
